About the Art
Art has always been more than a visual experience for me - it is a way of exploring what it means to be human. Through color, symbolism, and visual storytelling, I create paintings that invite viewers to reconnect with wonder, curiosity, and the quieter truths that live beneath the surface of everyday life.
I believe art has the power to heal. It can give shape to emotions that are difficult to express, illuminate perspectives we may have overlooked, and create moments of connection with ourselves and others. In a world that often encourages us to move faster and think louder, art offers an opportunity to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with the heart and soul.
Much of my inspiration comes from music. Songs often arrive in my mind as colors, symbols, and cinematic scenes long before they become a paintings. A melody can feel like a sunset, a memory, a dream, or an entire story unfolding in images. I have always lived in a vibrant imagination filled with visual narratives, and painting allows me to bring those inner worlds into reality and share them with others.
My work is rooted in color-drenched surrealism, blending luminous sunset-inspired palettes with symbolic storytelling and dreamlike imagery. I am drawn to the space between reality and imagination, where emotions become landscapes, music becomes color, and ordinary moments reveal something extraordinary. Through vibrant oranges, teals, and radiant light, I explore themes of hope, transformation, identity, and the beauty of being fully alive.
Creating art is one of the greatest sources of joy in my life. It is both a creative outlet and way of making sense of the world - a practice of curiosity, self-discovery, and expression. My hope is that each painting offers viewers a similar experience: a moment of wonder, a spark of recognition, or a reminder that the imagination is not something we leave behind in childhood, but something we carry with us throughout our lives.
At its core, my work is an invitation to see differently, feel deeply, and embrace the vibrant possibilities that emerge when we follow was speaks to our soul.
Color-Drenched Surrealism for the Optimistic Soul.
My art can be seen in homes throughout the country by the amazing people who have become collectors and also at the Kurt Youngblood Framing and Art Gallery in San Antonio, Texas. My hope as an artist is to continue sharing my art with those it speaks to and to inspire those who have a desire to create.
Art became a therapeutic form of expression following military service. Many organizations and businesses continue to support service members and veterans, many of which I’ve taken part of or benefit from. I am honored to be associated with them, and support when I am able through donated pieces.
